Couples & Relationship Therapy
Relationships are hard. Whether it's your best friend or the person you have chosen to spend your life with, every relationship can have it's challenging moments. At the Journey Counselling and Psychotherapy, we work with Ontario couples, individuals, families and other relationship structures (ie. friends or coworkers) in a unique way that facilitates an environment where each party can be heard and have a chance to heal. Only then can we move forward and create structures and systems to promote communication and prevent further conflict escalation.

What to Expect
Couples therapy is designed to strengthen your relationship by improving communication, resolving conflicts, and deepening your connection. Whether you're navigating a specific challenge or seeking preventative care, we provide a neutral, supportive space.

Any ‘couple’ can come to therapy! Therapy is designed to support you and your partner’s needs, whatever definition of partnership you have. We support friends, intimate couples, ethnical non-monogamous relationships, siblings, and any other combination of people.
At the Journey Counselling and Psychotherapy, our approach Relationship Counselling is unique and tailored to you and your people.
Our Process
Our relationship therapists begin with a session to audit the relationship. This means we are going to come together, get to know each other, and allow the therapist to learn about each person's goals for therapy.

After the first session, it is typical for the therapist to see each person individually to understand each person’s individual perspectives. It is important in these sessions for the therapist to learn about your history with relationships, a little bit about your past and what has brought you to therapy. This allows the therapist to provide an educated estimate into what each person is bringing to the table, informing the treatment plan.

Relationships are all about communication! Throughout your sessions, heavy emphasis will be placed on equipping you with tools for healthy communication and mutual understanding.
Our therapists use approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) or the Gottman Method to approach work with partners.

Relationship sessions can be either 50 or 75 minutes depending on your preferences and needs.

Prices remain the same, regardless of how many individuals are in the session.
